Overview

• Arkema increased its capacity expansion to 40% from previously announced 25% for Pebax® elastomer at its Serquigny plant in France. The expansion would be done in two phases. Increasing firstly its global capacity by 15% in the first quarter of 2023, Arkema would start the other 25% at the third quarter of 2023.

  Arkema’s increases in Pebax® elastomer capacity would satisfy its partner’s robust demand. The demand came from different fields of life, industry of sports, consumer electronics, medical and industrial markets. These who recognized the light weight, flexibility and excellent energy return of highly specialized Pebax®. Applications ranged from ultra-fast running shoes to catheters or flexible device screens.

  With customer’s demands increasingly driven by sustainability and social responsibility, Arkema had benefited from strong growth of its bio-based Pebax® Rnew® over the past few years. Pebax was made from renewable castor beans. Materials were bio-based meant that carbon footprint would be significantly reduced. And they could be fully recycled as part of Arkema's advanced polymer Virtucycle® recycling program.
