Have You Heard About Insert Molding

Insert molding is used to make strong parts that don't require assembly, unlike mold date insert, much like overmolding, but insert molding allows you to do it with a wider variety of materials. For example, you can protect computer chips or wires by enclosing them in a plastic casing. Perhaps the most impressive benefit of insert molding is that it can be used to make plastic housings (which can be sterilized) for life-saving medical devices and implants.

However, insert molding does have similar limitations as over-molding. Prototyping can be a challenge if you don't have a 3D printer for test runs. The shape of the mold must also be very precise, as the substrate often needs to hang inside the mold to form the final product.

Choose over molding when:

— Your finished product can be made of thermoplastic and/or rubber.

- Your completed design is composed of multiple layers, materials (limited to those listed above), and/or colors.

— You will manufacture the substrate and the second layer at the same time.

— Your finished work does not need to be taken apart or disassembled.

Choose insert molding when:

— You are using prefabricated substrates.

— Your substrate is made of metal, wire, or computerized parts.

— The part you want to finish is a complete part.

Taizhou Huangyan Jinhong Plastic Mould Parts Co., Ltd. is an injection mold maker from China, The company sells mold date insert and other related products.
