If you love the fresh flavors of the Mediterranean, nobody knows Italian food like Costa's chefs. In the lounge, the night's entertainment is "hot, hot, hot" as a colorful musical revue takes center stage. Lime green, fuchsia, and banana yellow costumes - the vibrance is matched only by the star-quality entertainment. There are sidesplitting comedians, hilarious talent shows and karaoke sing-alongs.

Costa Cruises

Europe's number one cruise line

Costa has been providing cruises since 1948 and today visits more than 260 ports around the world. In 2016, its ships carried over 2 million guests. The brand operates a fleet of 15 contemporary ships and has two 5,220-passenger capacity newbuilds and two 4,180-passenger capacity newbuilds scheduled to be delivered between 2019 and 2021.

Costa is a leading cruise line in Italy, France and Spain where it boasts a tradition spanning close to seven decades. Its ships are deployed in the Mediterranean Sea, Northern Europe, the Caribbean, Brazil, Argentina, the Arabian Gulf and the Indian Ocean. The line offers a wide range of unique itineraries, with cruises generally ranging from seven to 20 days and also has longer exotic sailings from 20 to 30 days and one world cruise. Costa is also a leading cruise line in China. Most of its cruises sailing in China are four or five days and cater to Chinese guests.

Costa considers itself the world's ambassador of Italy’s finest. Its ships represent the best of Italy by offering beautiful Italian art, unique interior decorations with superb Italian mosaics and precious Murano chandeliers, fine Italian wines, excellent Mediterranean food selections and unique shops that carry well-known Italian fashion brands. Costa attracts international guests due to its multi-lingual service and is considered to be a top vacation provider in Europe. Costa is also known for offering innovative itineraries that combine the excitement of new destinations with pampering onboard service and ambiance.

In 2016, Costa Diadema, the line's flagship, introduced a variety of innovations, some of which are being replicated fleet-wide, that make the guests' onboard experience exclusive and unforgettable. The new features include dining options created by Bruno Barbieri, who has earned multiple Michelin Stars, and enriched entertainment including the Voice of the Sea shows and Peppa Pig-branded kids games and educational activities. Lastly, in January 2017, Costa launched a new advertising campaign. This campaign further builds on the successful collaboration with worldwide music star, Shakira, that began in 2016 and further strengthened the brands' positioning as "Italy's finest."

Our Fleet
Each of Costa’s ships has been designed in the style and traditions of Italy. These magnificent vessels, created to be among the most exciting and stunningly beautiful ships of our time, are floating palaces with every comfort, convenience and amenity offered for the enjoyment of their guests. Costa's ships feature millions of dollars in original works of art including sculptures, paintings, murals, wall hangings and hand-crafted artisan furnishings. Oversized staterooms, most of which feature ocean views and verandas offer their guests all the comforts of home.

Costa is the largest cruise line in Europe, and as it builds new ships regularly (like its parent company, Carnival), it has one of the most modern fleets, particularly in the Mediterranean. And like Carnival, Costa does regular upgrades. (In late 2013, the Voyager, Classica, neoRiviera, Victoria and Mediterranea entered dry dock for multimillion dollar refurbishments.)

Known as the line that cruises “Italian Style,” Costa projects a lively and appealing Italian vibe (count on finding delicious pastas on the menus) that attracts an international mix of passengers. The onboard currency is the Euro and announcements are made a number of languages, including English, Italian, French, German and Spanish.

Given the passenger mix, the entertainment bridges language barriers, with theme parties, a mix of musical offerings, from classical to rock, and games and contests cooked up by the youthful and energetic cruise staff.

While most Costa ships homeport in the Med and offer the greatest variety of sailings there and in Northern Europe, they also travel to other destinations (including the Caribbean in winter; Canada and New England in the fall). Costa has pushed the itinerary map to include exotic ports in China and Southeast Asia and the United Arab Emirates (the line homeports two ships in Dubai).

Costa Cruises is best for:

Adults and families looking for a large cruise ship with varied onboard entertainment and a lively continental atmosphere;
Cruisers who enjoy fellow travelers with diverse, international backgrounds.

The ships of Costa Cruises:

  • Costa Atlantica (2,100 Passengers)
  • Costa Diadema (4,947 Passengers)
  • Costa Fascinosa (3,004 Passengers)
  • Costa Favolosa (2,860 Passengers)

The atmosphere and experience onboard Costa Cruises:

Older Costa ships have a sophisticated, European flair, but more recent builds, reflecting the parent company, Carnival, have a colorful and energizing color scheme. The onboard atmosphere is casual and fun, with lots of excitement, activities and entertainment. Because the line attracts passengers of all nationalities, evening entertainment trends toward more music and dancing, and less toward language-based (comedy or theatre) productions.

Most nights are informal; resort wear is fine. There are two gala evenings on the Caribbean cruises and at least one on European sailings; recommended dress is suits for men and cocktail attire for women. Costa “suggests” that guests do not wear beach clothes in the dining room or restaurants.
